FakeTracker

The journey towards creating "FakeTracker"

Our team went through a deep brainstorming session and came out with an idea to work upon the theme - Fake News.
Since this is a burning topic we thought that we must give it a shot.

IDEA :
We thought of an idea of creating a product that will aim to analyze and inform the user about the fake and legitimate news in realtime.
To carry out the above process we designed two products, first one is an Android app which will analyze the information which the user is reading and inform the user about its credibility using popups and notifications. User can also give feedback and views on the flagged news. Our app also has a provision to show currently trending fake news. The categorization of news will be done on the servers based upon an Algorithm which was devised at Stanford University.
The Algorithm consists of five question rule:
1. Who wrote it?
2. What Claim does it make?
3. When was it published?
4. Where was it published?
5. How does it make you feel?

PROCESS :
1. We brainstormed on the idea to come up with features of the application and also the problems the user would face.

2. To get a clear understanding about the users problems we designed a questionnaire of 8 MCQ questions.

3. We got a tremendous response from people, around 120 response were recorded. Then we analyzed each of them to conclude the feature list of our product. Following are the questions we asked in the survey and the data recorded from it in the form of graphs and pie charts.

4) Further brainstorming was done and the data was grouped into different categories. Also other problems were identified and solutions were thought out during this process. An Affinity Diagram was prepared which represented the data appropriately.

5) The next stage was making low fidelity prototypes using pen and paper. The results gave us further insights on the interaction design of the application.

6) The final stage was to create high fidelity mockups and prototypes. We created mockups using sketch and Illustrator while the prototyping was done with Principle.
