Cyber - Safe
In Design-360 hackathon,we designed an application which will serve as a community platform for people and help in creating awareness about latest cyber threats and security measures which can help people prevent such threats . We conducted a survey for gathering data about how much people are aware of cyber security , what do they commonly do to keep themselves secure and maintain privacy on Internet and what security threats they have faced while working on Internet . We concluded that most of the people use Internet for educational purpose (34.1 %) ,connecting to other people via social networking sites ( 31.8 %) and recreational activities like gaming,playing music and videos etc. People use internet very often , like , about 22.7 % users spend more than 15 hours on internet and 27.3% of the users spend 3-4 hours on a daily basis . There are definitely more chances of being a victim to any cyber-security threat due to frequent usage of internet and its gaining popularity. Since a lot of private information related to a user like credit card details,passwords etc. can be hacked from internet, many people also indulge in cyber-crime.We also concluded that almost 90% of the users connect to internet via smartphones(52.3%) and laptops(43.2%).So laptops and smartphones are prone to cyber security threats.We also tried to figure out how people set their passwords for their accounts on various websites . Most people set the same password for all their accounts which can be really very harmful if any one of the account gets hacked . People have installed anti-virus software in their laptops but they don’t find it very useful.About 63.6% of the users feel that they are being stalked online without their own consent and about 50% of the users had their identity stolen on Internet .
So,we designed a solution which can help the users become aware of various cyber security threats.People who are already aware can share their knowledge and help other people in gaining knowledge and awareness . We created a prototype for the community platform that we were supposed to design for cyber-security threats . Repeated content and incorrect answers are avoided by using certain kind of filters.Although,general information about all up-to-date cyber security threats is available on the website . Blogs related to cyber security written by professionals are also available on the website.
